Some trips are just a load of grip and grins. Like Capt. Chris says, it's nothing but easy living on the Get Bent down in the Florida Keys! I am grateful to share these memories and I can't wait to come back with my family and friends.
I learned about Capt. Chris Walter through Sam Root a few years ago from a cover on the Florida Sportsman Magazine they shot together of a wreck fish. Have you you ever met someone who found something they loved and ran away with it? Chris Walter is one of those guys. He traveled down to the keys
Up until now, I have not fished with Capt. Chris, but I have sent one of my best friend's family down to the Keys all the way from Texas and they came home with memories for a lifetime.
This spring, the star aligned and I got my chance! I set off into the depths with Jay Harris, Sam Root and Capt. Chris Walter.
Our day turned on as we put the hurt on a few blackfin tunas.
Sporty seas and a bloody deck. It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it. I was thrilled to partake!
After filling the cooler, we wenched up a bruiser AJ and moved out a few miles to do some deep dropping.
Capt. Chris showed us why he holds the current IGFA record for queen snapper at 28lbs.
From the first drop we were pulling in beautiful Queen Snapper.
Mustad 7/0 3X putting in work deep in the Keys
Jay Harris managed to bring this gorgeous specimen from the depths and Capt. Chris Walter hand cranked and leg pumped another delicious Queen from 700 ft of the Florida Keys and we made our way back to clean fish before the sunset.
